Pro Bono Attorney Information

Courtroom opportunities for attorneys have declined across the nation in recent years.  To help counter this trend, and to encourage lawyers to practice in federal courts, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois is announcing the availability of a new service to appoint counsel for indigent pro se parties in certain civil cases.

The Plan for Appointment of Counsel currently allows for attorneys to be reimbursed for costs and fees up to $1,000 and eligible law students are allowed to seek reimbursement up to $500.00.

Counsel interested in being considered for pro bono appointment are able to sign up through the Court's on-line Pro Bono registration form (click here).
