Election Day Emergency Filing Procedures For 2020

The following procedures apply only to parties seeking to file an election-related emergency matter after 5:00 PM on November 3, 2020, that requires the IMMEDIATE attention of a Judge because the emergency is so urgent that it cannot wait until the following business day.  Emergency petitions should be filed electronically using CM/ECF.*  Once the relevant papers are filed, the filer must contact the Clerk of Court at electionfiling@ilcd.uscourts.gov to advise of the filing, and include the case number and parties in the body of the email. 

 

*Any filers without access to the Court’s electronic filing system (CM/ECF) may submit the emergency petition via email to electionfiling@ilcd.uscourts.gov
